Wingra Redi-Mix

Wingra Redi-Mix produces hundreds of different mixtures to meet your project’s needs. These mixtures are produced by fully computerized state of the art batching plants assuring accurate and uniform mixtures. We produce and control our own aggregates, this provides for a higher quality concrete product. Our product is continuously checked in the field by quality control personnel.
Commercial Projects
We have participated in some of the largest commercial construction projects in the Madison area, including the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, Kohl Center, and Overture Center for the Arts. These projects required state-of-the-art high-strength concrete and specialized mix designs engineered to meet the strictest project specifications and performance standards.
Our production facilities, strategic locations, and reliable fleet allow us to be the supplier of choice for large-scale commercial projects throughout the region. With decades of experience, we understand the importance of delivering consistent quality, dependable service, and on-time performance to help contractors keep projects moving efficiently from start to finish. Whether supporting major infrastructure developments or large commercial builds, we are committed to providing concrete solutions built for long-term strength and success.
Residential Projects
Residential construction is an important part of our concrete business. An average size home will use anywhere from 75–150 cubic yards of concrete, including foundation walls, basement floors, stoops, steps, sidewalks, and driveways.
The remarkably long-lasting quality of concrete makes it one of the best choices for residential construction materials, offering durability, strength, and long-term value for homeowners. At Wingra, we take pride in providing high-quality concrete solutions that help create strong foundations for homes built to last for generations. From the first pour to the finishing touches, our team works to ensure reliable materials and consistent performance on every residential project.Â
About Concrete
Portland cement concrete may look simple, but it has a complex internal structure that makes it one of the most widely used construction materials due to its versatility, durability, and cost-effectiveness. It is made from aggregates (sand, gravel, or crushed stone) and a paste of cement and water, which chemically react to bind everything into a solid mass. Aggregates make up about 60–70% of the mixture and must be strong and durable to ensure quality. The strength of concrete largely depends on the water-to-cement ratio, with less water generally producing stronger, more durable concrete if properly handled. Admixtures can also be added to adjust properties like workability, setting time, and durability. When properly mixed, placed, and cured, concrete becomes a strong, long-lasting, low-maintenance material that can be shaped and finished for a wide range of uses.
Our ProcessÂ
Raw MaterialsÂ
Material Storage
Mix DesignÂ
Batching Plant
The ready mix process begins with gathering the essential raw materials needed to produce concrete. These materials typically include cement, water, aggregates (sand and stone), and admixtures that help control setting time, strength, and durability.
Materials are then carefully stored at the plant to keep them protected and ready for production. This helps ensure consistency and quality in every concrete batch.
Before production begins, a specific concrete mix design is created based on the project requirements. Engineers determine the correct proportions of materials needed to achieve the desired strength, workability, durability, and performance.
The raw materials are measured and combined at a concrete batching plant. Automated systems carefully weigh each ingredient to ensure accuracy and consistency for every batch produced.

Quality TestingÂ
At the job site, the concrete is discharged from the truck and poured into forms or designated areas. Proper placement is important to ensure the structure receives even distribution and full support.
The mixer truck transports the concrete from the plant directly to the construction site. Timing is critical during delivery to ensure the concrete remains workable and reaches the site in proper condition.
Once batched, the concrete is loaded into a rotating mixer truck. The drum continuously turns to keep the concrete mixed properly and prevent it from hardening during transportation.
Quality control tests are performed to verify that the concrete meets project specifications. Common tests include checking slump, air content, temperature, and compressive strength to ensure consistency and performance.
FinishingÂ
CuringÂ
Final ConcreteÂ
RecyclingÂ
After pouring, workers begin finishing the concrete surface. This process may include leveling, smoothing, edging, and texturing depending on the final application of the concrete.
Once finished, the concrete enters the curing stage. Moisture and temperature are carefully controlled to allow the concrete to properly harden and develop maximum strength over time.
Once fully cured, the concrete reaches its designed strength and becomes a long-lasting part of the completed structure.
Unused concrete, returned materials, and wash water can often be recycled. Concrete producers may crush leftover material for reuse as aggregate, helping reduce waste and support more sustainable construction practices.
